Meet the team! Warren Harris, Senior Forensic Chemist, has spent most of his 30-year career looking under the microscope to help clients get the answers they need. As a member of our Forensics team, Warren specializes in laboratory characterization of unknowns, including chemical analysis of fire debris, and has conducted thousands of forensic laboratory investigations of failures involving manufacturing processes, consumer products, materials and construction systems. Using his expertise and skills in evidence collection, literary research and laboratory techniques, he's performed analyses to determine the causes of failures in materials such as adhesives, coatings, concretes, plastics, metals, wood, plaster, glass textiles, and oils. Warren also has a working knowledge of most scientific instrumentation, wet chemical, microscopy and spectroscopic techniques. Jensen Hughes is delighted to announce a collaboration with the SFPE Foundation on the new GCI Applied Research Fellowship program! Jensen Hughes Chief Technical Officer, Derek White stated, "Expanding the envelope of applied engineering is paramount in equipping and enabling professionals to manage emerging risks. I am confident that stronger public-private partnerships can drive significant advancements in this regard. We are hopeful this pilot with SFPE Research Foundation will spur other private entities to invest in solving today's challenges and improve our collective ability to solve for new hazards." Through the efforts of the 34+ participating organizations in the Grand Challenges Initiative (GCI), the SFPE Foundation has identified a gap between the innovative research and training taking place in university settings and the emerging challenges that engineering practitioners face in the field. In this first pilot year of the program, Jensen Hughes will serve as the host organization for the selected fellow, with the SFPE Foundation facilitating the selection process and the administration of the program. Leslie Marshall, Director of the SFPE Foundation commented, "We are very excited for this program, and to continue to work with our partners to take the GCI forward."
